A personal injury recall lawsuit has been filed against DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. (“DePuy Orthopaedics”) and Chesapeake Surgical, LTD (“Chesapeake Surgical”) in the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland (Civil Action Case No. CAL10-32147) on behalf of four patients with recalled DePuy ASR hip replacements who had to undergo a second hip replacement (i.e., hip revision surgery), alleging among other things that on August 24, 2010, DePuy Orthopaedics announced that it was recalling the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular System (total hip replacement) and the DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System (hip resurfacing), noting in the Recall Notice that reasons for high failure rates included component loosening, component malalignment, infection, fracture of the bone, dislocation, metal sensitivity and pain, according to a DePuy Orthopaedics personal injury recall lawsuit news report.
