Zantac Recall Lawsuit Cases Filed in Federal District Courts Have Been Ordered Transferred to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida for Pretrial Proceedings.
On February 6, 2020 the United States Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation entered a Transfer Order transferring Zantac recall lawsuit cases filed in federal district courts to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida for coordinated or consolidated pretrial proceedings.
The Zantac recall lawsuits allege that the heartburn medication Zantac (specifically the ranitidine molecule, its active ingredient) breaks down to form an alleged carcinogen known as N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), either during storage or when metabolized in the human body.
Some of the Zantac lawsuits were brought by individual plaintiffs asserting personal injury claims (alleging that they developed various forms of cancer as a result of NDMA formed from Zantac) and others were Zantac class action lawsuits brought on behalf of putative classes of consumers seeking refunds and other economic damages from their purchases of Zantac.
Various Zantac recalls and Ranitidine recalls were issued in late 2019 and early 2020 due to possible NDMA contaminates.
The Zantac multidistrict litigation is known as In Re Zantac (Ranitidine) Products Liability Litigation, Case MDL No. 2924.
If you took recalled Zantac or ranitidine and were diagnosed with cancer, you may be able to seek compensation from a Zantac recall lawsuit.
