Bassett Furniture Industries Recalls 90,000 Bassett Furniture Bassettbaby Drop-Side Cribs with External Plastic Hardware Over Potential Entrapment, Suffocation and Fall Safety Risks.
A recall has been issued by Bassett Furniture Industries, Inc. (“Bassett Furniture Industries”) recalling 90,000 Bassett Furniture Bassettbaby drop-side cribs with external plastic hardware sold at children’s product stores and other retailers nationwide and on-line from January 2000 through August 2010 for between about $200 and $500, reportedly because the Bassettbaby cribs’ drop-side rail can malfunction, detach or fail, causing part of the Bassettbaby drop side to detach from the crib, which can create a space between the drop-side and the crib mattress, which can result in an infant or toddler’s body becoming entrapped in the space, which can lead to strangulation and/or suffocation or a child falling out of the Bassettbaby crib, according to a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) crib safety recall news report.
Consumers are reportedly being asked to stop using the recalled Bassettbaby drop-side cribs and contact Bassettbaby for a free repair kit that will immobilize the recalled Bassettbaby drop side crib.
