Summer Infant Recalls Baby Video Monitors Over Risk of Strangulation Death.
A recall has been issued by Summer Infant recalling 1,700,000 video baby monitors with electrical cords distributed between January 2003 and February 2011 and sold at major retailers, mass merchandisers, and juvenile products stores nationwide for between $60 and $300 (in more than 40 different models, including handheld, digital, and color video monitors, which include both the camera placed in the baby’s room and the hand held device(s) that enable the caregiver to see and/or hear the baby from a specific distance) reportedly because the recalled baby video monitor’s electrical cords can lead to strangulation of infants and toddlers if placed too clase to a crib, according a baby monitor recall news report.
Consumers are reportedly being asked to immediately check the location of the recalled baby video monitors, including cameras mounted on the wall, and all electric cords to make sure the recalled electrical cords are out of arm’s reach of their child.
For more information on the Baby Video Monitor Recall, consumers reportedly should contact Summer Infant at (800) 426-8627 or visit Summer Infant’s recall website www.summerinfant.com/Home/Product-Recall.aspx to receive a new permanent electric cord warning label about the strangulation risk and revised instructions about how to safely mount camera and keep cords out of child’s reach.
