Ski-Doo Snowmobile Recall Issued By BRP US Over Potential Explosion Hazard

BRP Recalls 1,000 Ski-Doo Snowmobiles Over Potential Risk Of Explosion Due To Electrostatic Sparking in Fuel Tank.

A snowmobile recall has been issued by BRP US Inc. (“BRP US”) recalling 1,000 Ski-Doo Snowmobiles sold at Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from March 2004 through March 2010 for between $9,000 and $10,000, reportedly because electrostatic changes can accumulate and spark in the fuel tank of the recalled Ski-Doo Snowmobile when the engine is left idling, posing an explosion hazard that could result in serious injuries or death, according to a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Ski-Doo Snowmobile recall news report.

The Ski-Doo Snowmobile recall reportedly includes model year 2005 Ski-Doo Expedition TUV 600 H.O. SDI snowmobiles, model year 2007 Skandic SWT V-800 snowmobiles, model year 2008 Skandic SUV 600 HO SDI snowmobiles, model year 2008, 2009 and 2010 Skandic SWT V-800 snowmobiles.

BRP has reportedly received three reports of explosions with the recalled Ski-Doo Snowmobiles, with one incident allegedly involving burns to face and hands.  Consumers are reportedly being asked to stop using the recalled Ski-Doo Snowmobiles and to schedule an appointment for a free repair.
