Honda Lawnmower and Pressure Washer Engine Recall: Honda Has Recalled Certain Lawnmowers and Pressure Washer Engines
On September 14, 2023 it was announced that American Honda Motor Co. Inc., of Torrance, California (“Honda”) issued a recall of approximately 391,800 Honda lawnmowers and/or pressure washer engines (Recall No. 23-287). According to the CPSC, the recalled lawnmowers and pressure washers have improperly manufactured camshafts in the engines that can cause the starter rope to suddenly retract when pulling to start, posing an injury hazard.
Honda Pressure Washer & Lawnmowers Recalled
The recalled Honda lawnmowers and pressure washer engines include the following products:
- Honda HRX217K6 Lawnmower
- Honda HRN216 Lawnmower
- Honda GCV170/200 G5B Pressure Washer Engine
Recalled Honda Lawnmower & Pressure Washer Injury/Incidents
According to the Honda recall notice, Honda had received 2,197 reports of incidents related to camshaft failures, including seven reports of minor injuries.

The Honda recall notice stated that consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lawnmowers and pressure washers equipped with recalled engines and contact an authorized Honda Power Equipment dealer to schedule an appointment for a free inspection and repair.
