L.L. Bean Folding Camp Rocker Recall Issued By L.L. Bean Over Potential Falling Hazard

L.L. Bean Recalls 2,300 Folding Camp Rockers Camping Chairs Due To Possible Breaking Of Plastic Anchors Attaching Chair Seat Back To Chair Frame.

A camping chair recall has been issued by L.L. Bean (“L.L. Bean”) recalling 2,300 L.L. Bean Folding Camp Rockers folding camping chairs (with a fabric cover and a steel frame and a fabric or mesh seat and chair back and a cup holder on the right armrest with model numbers RNR113 and RNR114) sold at L.L. Bean stores nationwide, llbean.com and through the L.L.Bean catalog from April 2009 through July 2010 for about $50, reportedly because the plastic anchors attaching the fabric seat back to the frame on the recalled L.L. Bean Folding Camp Rockers camping chairs can break, posing a fall hazard to consumers, according to a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) camping chair recall news report.

Consumers are reportedly being asked to stop using the recalled L.L. Bean Folding Camp Rockers camping chairs and to contact L.L. Bean to receive a free replacement rocker.

THANK YOU MR.&MRS.BEAN, for doing the responsible thing as a distributer of high quality consumables. I did get a replacement rocker with the back attachment fixed, and I got a check as a refund in case I did not like or want the replacement.

HOWEVER, as I opened the fixed rocker the plastic clip that holds the bottom rocker to the upper assembly during travel shaddered in half. As I inspected the second unbroken plastic clip I discovered the one screw that holds the clip to the rocker tube had been so forcefully mounted that this clip was split and on the pathway of its broken cousin. I do not blame L.L.Bean. When notified of this I asked is the other plastic at the joints were reported damaged. They said no: they offered to either replace the second rocker or grant a refund and to pay for the shipment of that rocker back to L.L.Bean.

I feel sorry for L.L.Bean, who seem caught in the middle. I would like to know who the manufacturer of the rocker is so that I can avoid them in the future.

Keep up the good work company Bean.
    Thanks
