Generac Generator Recall: Generac Has Recalled Certain Portable Generators
On September 14, 2023 it was announced that Generac Power Systems Inc. (“Generac”) issued a Generac generator recall of approximately 64,000 Generac Portable Generators (Recall No. 23-288). According to the CPSC, the recalled generators’ fuel tank can fail to vent adequately from the rollover valve, causing the gas tank to build up excess pressure and expel fuel when opened, posing a risk of fire and burn hazards.
Generac Portable Generators Recalled
The recalled Generac portable generators include the following products:
- Generac GP15000E Portable Generator
- Generac GP17500E Portable Generator
Model numbers include G0057341, G0057342, 005734R1, 005734R2, G0057351, G0057352, 005735R1, and 005735R2.
Recalled Generac Generator Injury/Incidents
According to the Generac recall notice, Generac had received reports of 27 incidents of the generators overheating and pressurizing or expelling fuel when opened, including three incidents resulting in severe burn injuries.
Remedy For Consumers of Recalled Generac Generators
The Generac recall notice stated that consumers should immediately stop using the recalled generators and contact Generac for a free repair kit.
